September 15, 2017 Luxembourg, the 2nd least stressful city.

A new study that focuses on stress factors in 150 cities around the world places Luxembourg-city in second position of the agglomerations least affected by this phenomenon. The authors of this ranking were based on 17 criteria, including density, purchasing power and racial equality.

While Nicolas Mackel, CEO of Luxembourg for Finance, multiplies trips abroad to praise the advantages of the Place, he could add to his argumentation this ranking on stress carried out in 150 cities around the world.

Luxembourg-city is one of the least stressful cities in the world, according to a study carried out by Zipjet, a company that specializes in home dry cleaning and which develops a technology that helps reduce the stress daily life.
The authors explain based on official data provided by international institutions such as OECD, Eurostat or WHO.

City, pollution, economic situation and personal well-being

Two other German cities are in the top 5, Hanover (3rd) and Munich (5th), while the Swiss city of Bern is in 4th place.

"Mental health problems are on the rise worldwide, stress being a trigger for this increase," says company CEO Florian Färber. "By showing how the less stressful cities manage this problem, we hope that those with more stress-related problems are inspired to overcome them."

In order to carry out this classification, the authors explain that they relied on 17 different criteria, grouped into four categories: city, pollution, economic situation and personal well-being.
Gender equality to be improved

In this first chapter, Luxembourg-ville recorded a very good score for population density and green spaces, but is not well classified at the level of sunshine.
In the category of pollution, if the capital of the Grand Duchy is relatively well appreciated for its low level of air pollution, the authors of the study believe that those related to noise and light are much worse.

For the economic aspect, social security and purchasing power are the most important, while the unemployment rate and per capita debt seem to be quite high compared to other top 5 cities.

Finally, personal well-being, in terms of mental and physical health and racial equality, is very high in the capital of the Grand Duchy. The only slight shadow in this picture is the equality of the sexes, a point on which the city still has some way to go to improve itself.
In addition to its mature financial ecosystem, the Place has other arguments to defend in the context of Brexit. Indeed, her competitors are well behind her in terms of stress. Frankfurt arrived in this ranking at the 33rd position, Dublin at the 59th and Paris at the 78th.
