Belgian developer to invest €45m into project, plans offices, housing and retail
Belgian developer and investor Eaglestone has bought Banque de Luxembourg's old office by Luxembourg City's train station from a private vendor.
The company intends to invest €45 million to renovate the building by 2020.
The project, dubbed Alfa-Arcades, will create 4,000 square metres of housing, retail and offices across seven storeys.
Half of the building will be kept as offices – 2,000 sqm – while a further 1,200 sqm is earmarked as commercial space and 800 sqm as residential.
All the space is expected to be rented out. There will also be underground parking.
The area around the station, viewed as one of the more down-at-heel districts in the city, is expected to undergo a facelift in the coming years.
Dutch bank ING has already opened its new headquarters opposite the station, while Luxembourg's state pension reserve fund's real estate arm will redevelop a large area into a new "social security city".
