April 26, 2019 Decathlon will establish itself in Luxembourg
LUXEMBOURG - The French chain of sporting goods stores, Decathlon, plans to open a first point of sale in the Grand Duchy in the coming months.
A first Decathlon store is expected to open in Luxembourg by the end of this year, or the beginning of 2020. The French sports goods distribution brand is looking for a building or a site in the center of the capital, announces paperjam.lu this Tuesday. This point of sale, of "modest size", will call others elsewhere in the country.
It is already expected that the second store will be the same size (3,500 m²) as Sterpenich, installed at the Belgian border for three and a half years. The clientele is 60% Luxembourgeoise, justifies Benjamin Michel, director of Decathlon Sterpenich, quoted by our colleagues.
A hundred positions will be opened "in the coming months", to ensure the launch of the first Luxembourg store chain. It is also present in Mont-Saint-Martin, France, at the crossing of the borders with Luxembourg and Belgium.
